I see, my assumption was fish feed was primarily valued as a protein source and other diet components (i.e. premixes) met vitamin and mineral needs.

I could use straight Fish Meal as a protein source if I wanted to but I would loose out on some of other nutrition that is in the fish pellet.

Have you ever tried simply replacing the catfish chow with fishmeal to see how birds responded. If my birds have access to any live greens, concerns about vitamins are minimal since what is not already in food can be made in gut.
