Can I put a new 2 day old chick in with 7 four week old pullets and 1 four week old rooster?

hmm... I wouldn't, they will peck the young one

that's just how birds are. I wouldn't put chicks togeather (while they are chicks) that are more then a week apart. Is the 2 day old chick all alone? A chicken needs a freind so if he/she is all alone I'd get another 1 - 7 day old chick. But putting a 2 day old chick with 4 week olds is like putting a sick chicken with healthy chickens so..
Well, Good Luck!

I will sometimes push it to two weeks. I have never had success in the same brooder if they are more than 2.5 weeks apart. Even 2 weeks difference sometimes can be tricky. In your case I think the little one may get beat up pretty bad. Not telling what to do, just telling you what I would do.

I hope the best for ya.

The gender of the older ones doesn't matter, it's just the age difference. Once the younger bird(s) is 3-4 weeks they could possibly go in together. I've kept birds 3 weeks apart in age together, but not starting with that young of a chick.
