Roosters and Hens Question.. Behavior.

But I am concerned, the hens and rooster are brother and sister.. so would it be ok to hatch chicks from their batch...???

I think you can, but it can cause any genetic issues to be more prevalent. If you do hatch, I would take care that the same rooster does not father more chicks from the offspring again.​

I do have some noisy birds but I don't think they are doing the song yet.. My rooster does let out a funny squawk, a repetitive sound, for about a minute or so. At first I thought it was a hen but it was him.. Like a cross between a goose honking and a chicken bocking.. Any one know what that might be?

Thanks for all the information. We are really winging it (ha) and it is an interesting experience so far that we are LOVING!

Also.. we have decided to just get a couple more chicks from another breed rather than hatching sibling eggs.. Thank You!
