I have a silkie rooster who faithfully every single day starts crowing at 2:30 AM, I tried to go out and reason with him, it went something like this: Me: Little man the sun isn't even peeking out yet could you give us a couple hours atleast? Roo: err err err err errrrrrrrr Me: you are gonna make pops mad and were both gonna be in trouble! Rooster: same response but does it twice, Absolutely NO respect for his mother. What is his deal? Once he starts this goes on all day non stop till around 7-8 PM, nothing has changed everything is the same and this started about a month ago. He will be 1yr old next month, and has been crowing for many months. Any ideas??

Any chance some rodents or a squirel has moved into the coop? Mine start crowing whenever the neighbors mutt barks or their teenager (complete with loud truck) pulls in after dark. Basically anything the bird brains consider unusual will start them to crowing.

Only Hollywood roosters crow just at sunrise. They crow if lights shine in their windows, if something is lurking outside the coop, etc.

If something is disturbing him, he will crow. Sometimes I hear roosters crow at weird hours. But my inside roos, two bantams know to keep their beaks shut until about 6:00AM.

Mine crow anytime of day or night. I had one that would crow every morning at 3am, when he heard me come home. Silly birds!

I did not expect him to only crow when the sun comes out, guess I will go sit somewhere outside and see if anything happens to come around. Thanks

Your Roo's clock is just fine, it's the rest of the world that is off. I have a Roo that feels exactly the same way. He won't listen to my logic either.

The one we had crowed between 4 and 5 in the morning. It wasnt popular.

I have heard to keep them someplace completely dark at night and then let them out when you get up.

Mine crows around 4-5am every morning, but goes back to sleep til sunrise at about 7:30am. Then he crows just about all day long.
