Roosters Crowing All Night?

Sometimes I think they crow when there's some thing or someone out there. Sometimes I think they just love to crow all night. Sounds like you've got the early bird type.

You know, your comment about making curtains for the coop made me think of something someone else wrote a while back about having to stick their rooster into a box in the early evening and letting him out after daybreak, because their neighbors were making their lives miserable because the rooster was getting them up too early.

Apparently, it worked! So blackout curtains would probably keep them quiet. lol

I'll stay subscribed so let us know eh?

I think it depends on the Roo. I had one that would crow anytime day or night. It didn't bother us because we didn't hear him very loud. Didn't have any light to bother him either.

Anyway, the night my brother came over staying in our front bedroom he couldn't sleep all night because of Bennie. The next night I put him in a dog crate where he couldn't raise his head. Let's just say, it was a peaceful nights sleep. I only did that when company came to stay, but if you want peace at night, put them in a comfy place where they can't raise their heads.

Well, that would explain why the box would work....not necessarily the lack of light but the inability to raise his head!

I'll have to tuck this little nugget away for some day when I may need it.

Thanks for sharing it!

Exactly how attached are you to these roos? We had a white EE who perched on our porch and happily serenaded us at unappreciated hours of the night. He met his fate. And no-one was sad to see him go. (He looked wimpy anyway.

I dont mind the crowing so much, it only really bothers me if im having trouble sleeping or if Ive got guests.
I dont really wanna put the 4 youngies in boxes everynight so,
Im off to find some big hesian bags to use as block outs...
Ill keep u updated.
