Roosters crowing at odd times

Just….why are my roosters crowing at like 1:30 in the morning?? After they’ve bedded down?? And are asleep??
They just wake up, crow for 10 minutes, and go back to bed. At 1 in the morning…..
Anyone have an idea as to why?

You could have a predator close by that you cant see but they can

i don't know why, but is you coop have good exposure to moonlight? My rooster does the same thing and they have a good exposure to moonlight

that could be a different reason too you might want to shine a flashlight at the coop when he does

Likely a predator or something they can hear but you cant. My roosters crow in the middle of the night sometimes if i make a noise. And when one starts, usually others start in and even distant neighbors roosters will start. How many roosters and hens do you have?

Also, is your coop located where car headlights can shine on it as cars pass by? That used to set off my in-town rooster.

But my livestock guardians and the neighborhood dogs aren’t barking when this goes on. We’re sandwiched by very vocal dogs who bark at literally anything.

Yeah. It just seems odd that they do it at the same general time…but now that I think about it, my neighbor’s son likes to go in his car and listen to music in the driveway…

We had a night shift worker in the house who drove home every night at the same time in the wee hours. Marion always greeted him when the lights turned into the driveway.

I think close predator, moonlight, or cockerel/roo in distance to trigger mine. Most any hour, I can hear him. Sometimes so quiet, I worry.
