I just lost my year old welsummer rooster a month ago. I found him lethargic on the ground with his comb turning black. These are the only symptoms he had. No cold symptoms, no respiratory distress, and no injuries that I could see. They don't free range. They have free access to grower/finisher feed and water. He was dead within the day. I saw him stretch his legs out behind him and look up and just let go.
Tonight I went out to check on the birds and a young cockerel is laying on the ground with his comb turning black and lethargic. He's all wet from sitting in the same spot in the rain all day. Same deal with him. What could be going on? I have 6 other hens in there and none have shown any problems. I have two other coops next to this one and have had no other problems. Any ideas on what this could be??
