We had a raccoon attack last night, they got our little hen, but our year old bantam roo managed to survive. However, his left eye is swollen shut, could even be missing, I can't tell from the swelling. We brought him inside, he's in a large crate but hasn't moved much and isn't eating/drinking/pooping.
We're not able to get him to a vet, what would you suggest for first aid if anything? He's not as docile as our hen was, but I think we could manage to handle him if needed. Thank you.

I don't have a lot of expertise in this area but I would say to gently wash the eye area with mild soap and water (J & J baby shampoo). He's probably in shock and could also have internal injuries that you can't see. Just keep him as comfortable as possible and hope for the best.

Thank you, I figured while he was still being so quiet I'd go ahead and try to clean him up a bit. He seemed to perk up after that, but the swelling is considerably worse, although I think its below his eye. I'm afraid he might have other injuries but not sure how much I can poke around without doing more damage, so I'm going to let him rest for tonight and see how he is tomorrow.
