I worry more when the roosters try to fight me. I still have scars on my leg left from the spurs of one of my White Leghorns.

Yay for Woody! He's such a pretty boy. I miss seeing him in the yard, but Roosty is so much happier now.

I don't have any Roo's, just 8 hens who are working on their pecking order. I let them do their thing... to a point, then I step in. I have one runt that I had to hand feed to keep up with the others and now she can stand on her own. One of my hen's decided to pick on her the other day and there was blood stains everywhere. I couldn't take it so I grabbed that hen by the neck and held her face down to the floor of the coop...not hurting her, just holding her there just to see what happened. They all staired at her in silence...not a move from any of them. The runt came close to the bully and gave her a tap on the head and walked away! Peace and quiet ever since!! now I don't know if this is a cure for the "Pecking Order" but it sure works for my gals. Get this...the bully is still the boss but she doesn't draw blood any more.
