Pls help!
without vet help can he still recover? He is a 7+ year old roo and I'm scared it'll get worse...
At first it's just a black scale that has blood seeping through. He got it because there's a typhoon here and in panic I put him on the only cage we have and it's a bit small, perfect cage for a bantam but a bit small for a big roo like him.
In the cage there's a wood there for perching and it's a bit small for him to grip on and I think he fell (in panic I put him there instead of the floor).
I tried squeezing the blood and putting a band aid incase if he step on a poo. I always clean his area everyday. I also clean his wound morning and afternoon (with soap). He is already old so I'm the one who put him down and put him up in his wood during night time.
And then I got really sick for 1 week and thought that his wound is closing up since it doesn't bleed anymore so I stopped cleaning his wound and stopped putting band aid (so I don't over exert myself for taking care of them while I was sick).
When I got better i noticed its building up and thought that's just how it heals so I didn't think too much of it. But then few days later I notice him panicking sometimes when perched and then it started to bleed.
So I tried soaking it in hot water and and remove the build up and then it looks like this but there's something hard on it. Next few days I was hesitating but eventually remove it little by little. I always wash his foot with soap and then soak it in hot water then bandage it. I dunno why it got worse but it's probably because I bandage it to thightly?
.
Now same routine but I got a betadine and then put some malungay extract on it and I think I remove it completely? At least that's what I think. I also got recommended by the feed store to let him eat this tablet, tyrox v (sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim) once a day. Now that I remove those, his foot looks hallow and it looks like it penetrated to the other side....
I dunno if he'll recover....he can still stand and perch on his wood (he got calmer and not panicking anymore when I remove his rope that's why I still let him perch than putting him on the cage again since he'll likely to step on his poo there) I notice that he's been eating less and less lately tho...I also just put a band aid rather than bandage since it might get too thight.
It'll be nice if I can help him recover without vet help... I really have no money and I'm already a financial burden especially asking for a medicine for my chickens because they keep getting sick lately after my roo died a few months ago... if there's no choice I can probably beg but vet here is already expensive and there's no avian vet here and livestock vet is really uncommon...
