Roosters getting very aggressive with hens-should I get more hens?

We had two roos and 4 hens. We ended up re-homing one of them. BIG Al, our rooster sort of picks a hen each day to "date", which spreads the attention around. I can't imagine if we had kept the other. Re-home one of your roos, either to a good home or a crock pot. Your hens will thank you. As a general rule, it should be no more than 1 roo for every 10 hens.

Thanks everyone. It seems like they are OK during the day, but then become crazy around dusk. Is there something to that?
i've found out roosters breed the hens early in the morning, and late during the evening. when ever the sun is going up or down

Yeah 2 roosters is too many for 7 hens. Please get more hens. Sometimes the top male will prevent the other from breeding while he's looking but the other will still sneak a breeding in there. It'll be easier on all just to get more hens.

Young ones are kind of "rough" on hens and get pretty carried away by hormones. So two like that with only 7 girls, ouch.

yes young males will torchure a hen. he will just agervate her again, and again untill he just gets out of that stage of bothering her constantly. thats at around 8-10 months of age....maybe less depends on the breed

Could I separate the roosters for a few months until they outgrow this phase?
