roosters head tore up

not sure why but my hens turned on their roo and took a big part of his head off.
will they ever let him back after he heals up.
do I give them a new roo from my 1 month olds. Or just start over from my grower cages.
I hate to stop breeding these hens. Their eggs are huge and with the roo have provided eggs to hatch alot of chicks this summer.
I think when he fell out of his cage this morning they didn't think he belonged there when I put him back.
I could give them a new roo but if they did that to their roo what would they do to a 1 month old roo.
looks like I may be done hatching for awhile. I do have this weeks eggs saved up.

Ive heard that hens stay fertile for 7 day after... ive had the same problem... i put a roo in a few days after and they did it again.... i ended up leaving them alone for 3 weeks and added in a new roo... no problems for a couple months now.
