QUESTION RE CROWING

I have 3 roosters that are penned together where they can see the hens and they are crowing persistently.

My question is, if they can't see the hens, ie visually partitioned off, but the hens are still in close proximity, would this have the potential to reduce the crowing or does there need to be a considerable distance from the hens?

I’m not positive, but since chickens do not rely on smell for breeding/mating, as do dogs, cats, horses, cows, etc., most likely “out of sight, out of mind.” Unless chickens have some other sense that I’m not aware of.

So then my question would be if you put them in separate pens where they can't see each other would that have the potential to reduce the crowing. Or do they need to be a considerable distance from each other? Or is it a lost cause :)
