My husband and I rescued a flock of birds that were abandoned. I spent two weeks going over there twice daily to feed and water them before I was given permission by DNR and the county police to remove them. During that time, something was killing them nightly. The first day I arrived it looked like a slaughter house. Explosions of feathers and bodies everywhere. Daily I would find more. They were getting picked off at night because the person that abandoned them took the coop door off and they were exposed to whatever wanted a midnight snack. By the time I was allowed to remove them, we ended up only saving 28 birds. I have found homes for alot of them already, but no one is willing to take a roo. The three I have are beautiful and sweet roo's. One is missing most of his tail, looks like something tried to grab him by the tail and he got away. It's starting to grow back and he's a beautiful boy, he is a large Maran. I also have a beautiful all black roo, I believe he is a Ayam Cemani. The reason I say I believe, is because I haven't wanted to traumatize him by chasing him just to look in his mouth to see if it's all black. He is a young bird, not crowing yet. The third one is well, not sure lol.. He looks to be the offspring of the Maran because he has a few feathers that are blueish, but he is a beautiful cream color. I also have a 4th one that you can choose from if you would rather have than the above three, he's a easter egger. Later today I will go out and take pictures of them and post. If anyone is interested in rehoming these rescues please let me know. I am in Brunswick Georgia, so I am close to Jacksonville and Savannah area and all in between. Thank you in advance!!

That was kind of you to intervene. I'm too far north to help out but I'm sure someone closer to your area will reach out. Good luck.

Thank you so much for stepping in to care for birds that the original owner was callous enough to just leave for the predators to deal with. So many rotten humans out there. But people like you help to balance the scales.
Try posting on CL. I rehomed a very nice young Delaware cockerel of mine that way. Take the best pictures you can of them and tell your story. I literally took my flock down to a nice landscape arrangement in my front yard and got a few really good close ups of him.
Also try joining and posting on any local FB poultry groups in your area. Use the same information from your CL ad. I read postings on the FB groups all the time of people looking for a friendly rooster.
Good luck to you. I am sure you will find homes for these boys.

Thank you so much for the information. The more sites the better. I forgot to mention I have turkeys as well from that rescue. Thanks again!

I forgot to mention I have some turkeys as well from that rescue needing a home. I also have a Easter egger roo that can go to a new home if someone prefers him over one of the other roo's. I plan on keeping at least two. I have a total of 6 roo's right now from the rescue plus one of my own. Too many, wish I could keep them all. Here are the pictures of them as promised. Thanks!

:loveThey are gorgeous and seem to be in good health. I would post your ads ASAP to try to get these boys to their new homes.
One thing I did not mention is that you will get people who will want them for their freezers. If you are okay with that, fine. If not, say so in the ad and ask a small fee for them. When the right person comes along, just let them have the rooster. I told the woman who adopted my Delaware that I only put the fee in the listing to prevent him from going to freezer camp. There are enough nasty cockerels and roosters out there to fill someones freezer with. The nice ones deserve a chance.

Thank you, I didn't think of that and I do not want them to end up on a dinner table. They have been trough enough already. :)
