Please help my roosters keep on dying.
3 months ago our 2 boys suddenly became ill. They were fine one day, but the next day they seemed sad.
Tail feathers were down they seemed to mope around and isolate themselves from the flock.
They stopped crowing and did not seem to eat or drink. This was on day 1.
By day 2 they still had not improved and seemed uneasy on their feet. They began leaning on things to support themselves.
By day 5 they could not walk and would just lay on their side with their eyes closed.
Both roosters did not fall ill at the same time, after the first one died a couple of days later the second one fell ill.
We got 2 new boys a month ago, one is 3 years old and the other is 24 weeks.
Both settled in nicely, but yesterday I noticed that the 3 year old rooster was showing the same signs of illness that our previous boy had died from.
We have only Chinese Silkies, and whatever is making the roosters ill is not effecting any of the hens ( we have 27 Hens).
We have our coops fenced off in a large part of the yard so the chickens can come and go as they please.
If any one can help it would be appreciated I don't want to loose any more of my boys.
