Roosters or hens?

Hi! I have several breeds of chicks that my boyfriend got from a chicken swap. We are new to chickens and I love my pretty dottes! I have a cream legbar and I have no idea what the gold chick is, someone told me an AmberStar? And I don’t know what the solid black one is. I have no idea how old they are, we’ve had them since July 30. The breeder didn’t tell him the ages. But help me determine if they are roosters or hens, please!! I’m pretty sure my blue lace Wyandotte is a rooster though. My little legbar is pulling out the tail feathers on my Wyandotte so I can’t really determine by the tail feathers on that one.

For #4, do you mean the one that looks like a Cream Legbar? With that breast color, it should be a female.

(Or maybe you and I are counting photos differently.)

For #4, do you mean the one that looks like a Cream Legbar? With that breast color, it should be a female.

It is possible that is the one I was looking at, I counted across and then down. Maybe it is the wet feathers, but looks like pointed saddles?

Yes all of them are wet, we’ve had a lot of rain. That’s the one I was talking about with the tail feathers being pulled out by the legbar.

I see the wet feathers that could look like pointed saddle feathers, but I'm pretty sure the salmon breast is a female-only trait.

I'm not really sure about genders for any of them.

It's hard to tell feather shape when the feathers are wet. I was looking for pointy saddle feathers, growing on the back in front of the tail. Those would indicate males. But wet feathers tend to clump up and look pointy even on hens.

And all the combs I see could be males (of one age) or females (of a younger age), but you don't know what age they really are.

If they are all the same age, you might have quite a few pullets there.
My reasons for saying that:
--the Cream Legbar should be female (by color)
--the Cream Legbar has a fairly well developed comb
--any other chicken with an equally developed comb has a chance to also be female
--any chicken with a less dveloped comb has a higher chance to be female

Even for the laced Wyandotte in the first photos, that comb could indicate a female getting close to laying age (maybe 4-6 months) or a much younger male (maybe 2-3 months).

Have you heard any crowing? That's usually a good sign of having a male.
