roosters sitting on eggs

I like the "stay at home dad" comment! We are thinking maybe he is just gay. We are NOT wanting chicks so we are gathering as we find them. Wish everyone could see him though. He really likes to sit on the nest. All of our chicks are from the same brood (I guess that is what you call a liter of chicks). They get along great and we are so not wanting to see them start fighting.

Thats too funny! You gotta get a pic of that! I loved that Stay at home dad comment too!

I am a fairly new chicken mom and new at this forum. I love my birds like no other but I'm not sure of the breeds of them. I enjoy them SSSSOOOO much that it doesn't matter what kind they are. I do have a little blue rooster that is intently sitting on a nest of eggs. I don't even think they are fertile but he gets off of them once a day and very quickly comes out of the garage, yes garage, and pecks around real quick them goes right back to them. There's a story that can explain everything. I had a lot of chickens, geese and ducks but 2 killer dogs came on the property and wiped out a lot of my birds. Blue Roo lost his wife and my hens lost their mate. Plus several other of my birds. :( One of my hens was laying eggs in the garage when all this happened. Blue Roo found the eggs and he's been sitting on them ever since.I put him some food and water close to him. He is so tiny that he can't even cover all the eggs. He keeps shifting around so they all so get sat on. I feel bad that he's sitting on unfertile eggs and his heart will be broken when they don't hatch. How long would it take for the eggs to hatch if they were fertile? How long should I leave him sitting? I thought about finding someone with baby chicks and replacing the eggs with baby chicks. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do in this situation.
