Ok, I decided I was big and that I needed to trim my boy's spur's. So I grab the cuter pliers and grab me a chicken and I commence to cutting. I was having to twist and cut at the same time and the whole thing came off.....

I am not sure if that was suppose to happen. The spur was bleeding so I put some cornstarch on there to try and stop the bleeding. Now they look sharper than they were......... Some body "HELP"

Well, you need to cut them off, not snip them off. You ended up twisting the husk off, which left the inner core. Don't worry about the bleeding. The spur will get hard again fairly quick now, and will be sharp. After it fully hardens up, you will be able to blunt it with a file, but you won't be able to cut it until it grows out again. You can see detailed instructions on my site HERE . Good luck!

Well I kinda figured that I did something wrong but wasn't sure. Thanks for your help.

What do you use to cut them with? They are super hard to cut.

It isn't necessarily wrong, some people prefer to slip them off. If you read the link I posted, you will find all you need to know to trim spurs. Good luck!

thanks for the pictures. I am still confused as to exactly what kind of cutting tool to use. I picture of the whole tool would help.

My Rusty's spurs are getting sharp. He is already fighting with the ducks. I'd sure hate for me or "Rose's Human Hen" to be next.

thanks!
