I have a bearded D'uccle rooster and today I looked at him and he's got blood all over the feathers on his feet. Then I was near the coop and FOUND HIS FREAKING TOE! It had a little chunk of flesh on it, Im not sure what to do or how his toe fell off, it looks like it got ripped off. Could someone tell me if there's anything I should do to keep his foot from getting infected?

Wait wait. Was it his toe or his spur? Spurs can break off. Which toe was it and how much of the toe broke off, if it was a toe?

Also, please tell us

1. where you live and
2. what the lowest nightly temperature has been in the last month and
3. if your coop has a wire bottom that predators could grab a toe through.

It was not a spur, definitely a toe. I think he's ok, today he was walking around like usual.
