My 5 month old RIR rooster had beautiful wattles--but noticed a few days ago one wattle was shorter, seemed shriveled and bunched up. He is so friendly, so today I picked him up and brought him in the house so I could see better with the kitchen lights.
The wattle has a large hard lump inside, and the wattle is shriveled up around it.
What is it and what should I do? Afraid to lance it, don't want him to bleed to death. He is perfectly fine otherwise. Did something bite him--spider, snake, etc.? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it cancer? Sorry I just don't know.
Thanks,
Sue
