Hi were new to having chickens and now have a flock of 7 but 2 turned out to be roosters. They seem to enjoy eachothers company and never leave eachothers side but also dont seem to bother the hens much could this be okay or will having this few hens between 2 roosters eventually cause an issue. If it makes mich of the difference i believe the roosters are buff silkies. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Welcome to BYC.
How old are they?
2 cocks for 7 hens is a bit risky. One cock will probably be boss and the other will hang around on the outskirts of the group hoping to impress the hens.
It can work, especially if the cocks are related. It's unlikely that each will attract his own hens if they live together. If you're prepared to house them separately when they become interested in the hens life might be easier for all.

Hello and welcome BYC. Depending on the breed of pullets you have (i.e. if they are a big breed, the little fellas might need a beer crate to do the needful) it is possible that some of your girls may exhibit signs of over-breeding.

Personally, I would get rid of at least one, and both if you do intend to breed from either.

Good luck

Welcome to the coop!

Most people here are in agreement that 2 cockerels to only 5 hens is not a healthy balance. The probability of them getting into fights is pretty high because there really isn't enough hens to share. One will take dominance and that's usually not very pretty and could hurt either the other roo or the hens.

It's possible that it will work out, but not very likely. I'd list one of them on here, Craigslist or Facebook and someone is surely to want him.

Good luck with your situation. I know a lot of us choose to steer completely clear of straight run for fear of the situation your in or worse. Could get ALL roosters, haha.
