I have 2 roosters simular age.on bout 8 months and one that hatched 1 week before the other one. Well the older one has matured now and is crowing and has all the rooster features. But for some reason the other bit younger one is still growing bigger taller and doesn't have any big red comb yet.has medium wattles. Hasn't started crowing yet.they are in the same pen with 9 hens. I'm thinking because there's one dominant rooster the other one isn't becoming a rooster yet with all its features. Because I killed an even older dominant rooster couple months ago.then it didn't take long for the dominant rooster I have now to start crowing and become boss.so that's my theory. If anyone knows other info on this. There father is a Australorp x. Not sure what with.and there mother is a is a brown hen. There colours are white with brown patched wings with some flecks of black amongst there feathers.

Here are the 2 roosters.

It's not unusual for the subordinate to delay crowing and each bird will grow their physical characteristics at their own pace. He'll come around eventually and you might have your hands full then!
Are you keeping both?

Nah I was gunna keep the biggest one. But waiting to see how the rest of him turns out like. All together I've got nine pullets 2 roosters.3 nine week old pure black Australorp.one black boy and one blue boy and one black girl. Then got 9 RIR 6 week old chicks and one black girl 6 weeks old. Out of the RIR chicks. I only got maybe 3 girls if that. Rest roosters. Gunna have some nice stews later down the track. Where bouts you from?

The 3 9 week old Australorp I'm keeping .and my other black 6 week old Australorp. I'll breed them when they get older. My older flock of pullets only about 30% of them are related. Mainly the hens. There all cross breeds and the roosters. Australorp crosses.
