I have had a flock of Millefleur bantams for 34 years!
We had the horrendous mudflow disaster in Montecito 2 years ago; our flock was safe and spent 7 months at the Humane Society!
We are heavy on roosters, however, and we have 5 roosters and 6 hens. They are free range in the day time, and fight very seldom, nothing serious.
Someone dropped off a bantam frizzle rooster. He is beautiful and sweet, and tame. I have him in a separate coop and haven't let him range for the first week. I would like to integrate him into the flock, and need advice! We have a hen with two new chicks, and two other hens sitting on eggs.

Hi and welcome to BYC. Make yourself at home and enjoy the forums.

Welcome to BYC! I love Belgian Bantams! (what we call Belgian D'Uccles in Australia)
I can't keep Belgian Bantams, because I have some very feisty superlayers, and they might not get on with my Araucanas (my Sussex would be fine lol). But I still love the breed! Do they have names? Do you have pictures?
About introducing the new rooster....Hmm. I guess, wait until the hens have hatched their chicks, maybe keep them separate? You could try introducing him during free range, then still have him sleep by himself for about a week. Then try to introduce them and let him roost with them? That might work.

I'd find him another home, and not upset my happy flock. You already have an overabundance of roosters, with more on the way. He might cause issues that you don't need, and your birds don't need.
Then there are the possible biosecurity issues; will he introduce a disease or parasite?
Do you want mutt chickens in the future, if he does integrate into your flock?
Mary
