just curious, who would buy a roo other thasn for dinner? i always feel terible wheni have to give away a roo because i thnk its like killing them......
When I had to re-home one of my roos it took me about 10 minutes to find a family with only hens wanting to raise babies who were thrilled to have my beautiful boy. They only wanted them for pets and eggs and maybe meat, so his breed wasn't an issue. So yeah, there are people who want roos for something besides food. If I didn't have one I would be looking for one myself jsut for the beautiful crowing!!!
There are a few home for forever roos... but most I'd have to say = dinner. I made dinner out of most of my extras. However, a few years back I was out my top roo and was on the market for a long term one. Found one and he's still here watching the hens in his mutt glory. With the ratio of roos though.. chances he'll be food for someone somewhere.
As for craigslist, go ahead and use the one that is 6 hours from you. There may be people in your area using it too. People in spokane post in the seattle craigslist... and that's far away!
Hi Tiffany:
You are pretty close to me...I am just south of Tallahassee in Wakulla Springs.
There is another nice lady on here from Monticello (TT)....I am on the lookout for more people in our area to keep up the "chickwork"
