roosting bar

Ok so I mounted my roosring bar today I used a 1x2x10 fit perfect I put it about 5 ft up gonna make the a ladder to get up on it they are approx 16 in from the wall ........My girls are 5 weeks old I put a temporary mini roosting bar in about 6 in off the ground they LOVE it so hoping they will like the tall one as they grow.........opinions?????

Are you going to have soft landing spot for them? Five feet might contribute to a broken leg, unless there is enough room in the coop for them to fly their way down.

yea if they do fall which they played on the roost today while i worked on the coop I use a lot of pine shavings in the bottom they love to scratch around in it they have really gotten used to the ladders also i built today and yea there is enough room to fly down which one of the girls is really good at and perfers lol.....
