I have 2 brahmas that free range and always went to their coop for bedtime. The past few weeks, they insist on roosting on the railing on the deck. Each night I carry them to the coop, but how do I get them to go back to doing it themselves? I even kept them in the coop for 2 days hoping they would remember where home is. They still go to the coop to eat, drink and lay eggs, but not sleep! Thanks for all suggestions.

I would shoo them off the railing, but not carry them to the coop. I would put a flashlight or some LED cheap light source in the coop to encourage them to roost there.

Kind of a pain to have to turn it on- but once they are trained again maybe you wouldn't have to keep using it.
