Roosting on top of the coop

I have 10 chicken. 9 pullets, 1 rooster. Every night for the last 4 nights I've found the rooster sitting on the top of the coop! They've been in this coop for 8 weeks, they all get along really well, no fighting. I just have to move this rooster indoors every night! Is this a rooster thing and how can I correct it?

Unfortunately by moving him into the coop every night until he (and you) get bored and he goes in by himself. We had a similar problem, but ours roosted up in a tree. My poor DH had to pull out the ladder every evening and pluck out 5-6 chickens for me to deposit in the coop. Thankfully it only lasted 4 days before they gave up.
