so the days are getting shorter, which means less outsude time, but the weather is still decent. I added a rechargeable led light in the coop. It has three settings on the lowest setting--the chickens are still active

Is it alright to let them stay out for a little bit with the light on? I think it goes against the natural inner click there but they are enjoying it tonite--so are the ducks. The run has electric around it--a dog or dogs are outside and I will be out there too(to make sure they are safe)

As long as you're not worried about predators, you could let them stay outside all night! :)

I've thought about but I know the raccoons(a whole family)are living 20 ft away. To close for comfort. I know the electric fence is there and I literally test it every night, but I still do not trust it completely. I'm more of a night person, so I feel ok when I'm out there. I don't want my dogs arguing with a raccoon either.

So this light is in the coop, but the birds are outside in the run?
I think you were asking about this light and timing for extended winter laying?
