Tonight was the first time I have watched the girls fly up to the roost.
They went through this whole routine where they would line up and then jockey for position.
They were very vocal and kept raising and lowering there heads.
They would line up and then one would climb over and under the other birds until she reached her desired position.
Some even fell off.
Is this normal? I'm assuming they are establishing there pecking order, but it was kind of crazy to watch.
I thought..Bedtime doesn't look like much fun.
Has anyone else witnessed this kind of behavior.
 
Yep, if someone is on the wrong roost, my whole coop goes bazerk!

I've had my girls less than a week and it is fascinating to watch them squabble over their positions. We have two bars level with each other but they all crowd on the bar closest to the back wall, totally ignoring the empty bar toward the front. They climb over and under each other to get into place but really don't fight about it. They were 6 of 400 pullets so I think they feel quite blessed to have their own little home.
