At what age do most chickens develop to return to the roost at night.

i'm not sure but i put a roost in with my chicks from day one and some will roost/sleep on them and some will just hang out on them

When my chicks started sitting on my hand and preening themselves at about a week old i put a roost made of an old broomstick in. At first, they ignored it until I sanded it which rubbed the blue paint off. Soon after they were sleeping on the roost with their heads drooping downward.
