why won't they roost ? there around 2 weeks and wont even try them how do i get them to roost?

You may have to be a bit more clear on the problem. If you have 2 week old chicks under a heat lamp they will have strange up sleep cycles. If you're trying to get them to go on a perch you will have to wait a bit till they have some good feathers. They will roost when they are ready. As they get a bit older they will start calming down at night even with the heat lamp.

That is really early. Most of mine (except one independent warm blooded Brahma) have not roosted till 12 weeks for last years pullets. This years 5 weekers mostly prefer the litter still.

Mine jump on the roost for fun but aren't using it , two weeks is really young, normally by at least 4/5 months thy may start. It's good to have the roost so they can play and get used to it though

We've set a branch in the brooder for our 3-4 week old chicks, just for fun. They have rested on it, even fought over who gets to sit in the highest spots. Is that OK or should we pull the branch out?

Mine at first avoided it but now they all roost and even sleep roosting in the brooder. They are getting to the age to move to the coop though. We also set them on the roost overtime we put them back in the brooder after holding them.
