Roosts--- how high should they be???

I mean my sultans can fly like a charm but my silkie can't even get off the ground. Unless its within hoping distances.

My silkie roosters all make it to my top roost no problem. The girls sleep in a pile.

Silkies handle the cold very well if they are dry.

Chooks naturally try to roost as high as possible.
I have a range of heights in my coops- everyone wants the top perch.
A very high roost can save lives in a dog or fox attack, as long as the chooks keep their cool
and stay on the perch.
