roosts proper shape?

I have heard from some folks that round roosts are best but one lady told me to make them flat and 4 inches wide. She said that in cold climates, the hens can't sit on round roosts and their feet freeze. Flat surfaces are better. On the other hand, I have heard that round is more comfortable to them. What do you think? Thx; Ed

I have a heavy breed, and I have them low and wide. a 2x4 held up by the second hole in a cement block on it's end. it seems to work just fine. I do not want them hurting themselves jumping down from them.
