Construction is progressing on my first coop.
Ready to construct the inside; the girls will ready to move out there next week...
I’m trying to configure where everything goes, but my question is about the roosts and poop board.
Is there anything that I can coat the roosting bar with to make them easier to get clean?
How do you make the poop boards removable?
Thanks!!!

How large is your coop, walk-in or not?
My poop boards are not removable. Mine were designed to hold a layer of sand mixed with PDZ that will be scooped daily with a kitty litter scoop. The roosts don't usually get very dirty.

My roost just sit in the notched holders for easy removal. Also the poop tray can easily be taken out as well. I will just put cardboard down and swap that out as needed and toss the used cardboard in my compost pile. Not to say this is the best set up but I believe it will work great for me.

Same here, I just give them a scrape when needed.

Might depend on how you define 'clean'.

I made my roosts removable, never needed to remove them so screwed them down.
Easy to unscrew if needed, packed the screw slots with beeswax so they wouldn't get filled with poop.

My poop boards are pretty easy to remove if needed for repair(happened once to correct design flaw) they sit on brackets and have a couple screws thru the back to hold them in place, again easy to unscrew if needed.

Thanks!

Do they need the ramps? I hadn’t really thought about those...
Thanks!!

I put the ramps in because I had big clumsy 'Big Brahma Babes'...
...plus my coop is only 6' wide(2' taken up by the boards) so there were some crashes.
Are they absolutely needed?... probably not....but they work well and don't take up any floor space. I still have some big birds and they use them regularly rather than jumping down.

Here is my back wall, left and right side walls...

On the back wall I was installing a 7’ roost, about 32” high, so they can look out the window?

The left wall I was leaving clean... food and water and grit.

The right wall I was installing a roost about 6’ wide, about 24” high so they can hop into the boxes?

Any better ideas/suggestions are most appreciated!!
