Roosts...

As soon as you have a way to set up roosts, some of the chicks will appreciate them. Mine were perching on the side of their brooder when they were about 10 days old, so we added several roosts. Now at 6 weeks all 21 are using them.

Mine are 7 weeks old and now all sleep on the roosts. I have pics posted on another thread if you search 'roosts'. I also have a double-sized milk crate next to the roost so they can hop to that, then to the floor..if they want to. They've been in a sectioned off part of the coop since 3 weeks old, then got the whole coop at 5 weeks old. Tonight is the first night with no light and no heat. Coop is dry and insulated. I am nervous!!!!!!!!!!! They are nearly feathered out--only bum feathers to go.

I hope I can sleep!
