Rose or Stan?

Not really other than I got Rose, Dorothy, Sophia and Blanche as one day old chicks together. Gemma and Laurel came later and they are kept separate from the "Golden Girls".

They were from a batch I purchased at our local general store. But if the other four are all female than that's not so bad. I was just waiting for them to get bigger to truly know if they were male or female.

Do you have a compelling reason why you'd want to keep a rooster at all? Roosters are advanced material, not a good idea for first timers. They are sweet now, but when the hormones hit, they can get aggressive - with each other, with the rest of the flock, with humans. It's best to rack up some chicken experience first, before diving into the world of roosters. Also, it's not a good idea to keep a rooster from the first batch of chicks in a brand new flock. With no older birds around to show them how to behave, young cockerels are automatically at the top of the pecking order, and it can really go to their heads. With nobody to keep them in check when their hormones spike, they can turn into real jerks. If you really want a rooster, wait until your current flock matures, and until you want to add more chicks (which is very likely to happen sooner or later... because chicks are so cute and addictive!) and then keep one male from the new batch. He'll grow up with aunties who'll put him in his place when he gets too rough with the ladies, and will teach him manners. He'll end up a better man for it.

Keeping a rooster can really benefit a flock- protection, finding food, fertilizing eggs ect ect. I had a roo with my first flock he was/is super sweet. No reason to assume this one will be mean

You can't assume anything with chickens, but there is a very real possibility that he'll be mean, and that's harder to deal with when you are a first timer. You can still get the benefits of a rooster, but play it safe and keep one from your second batch.
