Roster Making hens bleed

That's not a very good ratio... The hens are probably getting over-mated. Can you add more hens?

We plan on adding more hens sometime very soon.

We have 3 roo's and over 40 hens, in the same yard.
But we still have hens that have no tails and haven't had them for a while, we also have a few bareback and no rump feathers, so it's good to have plenty of hens.

I have 3 hens and 1 rooster. They are about 1 1/2 years old.

It would also be a good idea to add more girls. The ratio is 8-10 per rooster to ensure he can divide his time adequately without causing undo stress and harm to the girls. If you notice your 3 poor girls are hiding or look ragged, separate him from them several times a week to give them respite. No girl should have to be subjected to over mating.
My opinion is this:
Separate him immediately to give your three girls a break.
Plan on sending him to the Bachelor Pad several times a week to give the girls a break.
Purchase aprons as recommended above asap.
Watch your girls closely for undo stress and injuries. Sometimes the injuries are life threatening.
Get 7-8 more girls for that boy. He is a Rooster and needs more girls.
Remember, it is not common for a rooster to mate 10-30 times a day!!!! No wonder the girls are bleeding and you only have three hens.

I hope you get the Aprons for your girls and give them a break from that Rooster doing his Rooster thing 10-30 times a day.
Bachelor Pad he goes until the aprons arrive.

Also trim his nails if they are over long.
If he's just too rough, that's not good, and aprons and nail trims won't fix the problem.

They're on Amazon too. Aside from the longevity and quality of the product, I like what the company (Crazy K, the first link is their "about us" page) supports.

I usually wait until the hens are on the roost at night, put them on, then return to the roost. I've only had one hen (in 5 years and many hens) that wouldn't tolerate her saddle. Usually they hop down in the morning and go about their business having gotten used to their saddle.
