My one duck looks like Daphne. I'll try to get some photos today. I don't have trouble approaching them by myself, but with anything in my hand besides the foodbowl they are pretty timid. I guess I could put some mealworms in the foodbowl and take pictures as they go crazy eating them. they really go nuts for mealworms.
I got my first 4 little ducklings from a farm supply store April of last year. So I'm no expert on ducks but I have read just about everything I can find about them! I love sitting up at the pond & watching them. I could watch them for hours!! My momma just hatched out her second set of hatchings. First set of 5 were hatched on May 20th. The second set were hatched out Saturday night/Sunday morning. The first 5 are about 11 weeks old & I think I can pretty much tell the sex of each one. The females have a orange/black bill & their quack is deep & very loud. The drakes have a olive or light tan bill & their quack is softer & like Miss Lydia said they kinda sound like frogs. The younger drakes tail feathers aren't curling yet but I believe that will happen when they are a little older or maybe when they molt. My 2 older drakes molted when they were like 4 months or so & they just recently molted back to look like the females. If I'm correct they will do that in the spring & the fall?
