Hmm... have they been raised around water? If they havent you might have to give them a gentle push. But if they have beeen raised around water and its their first time around the big pond its probably a little intimadading. Best wishes and good luck, hope i could help.

We are getting 3 ducks from an acquaintance in a couple weeks. I thought she said two were Roran ducks but when I type it into google I came up with Rouen. She said the female (we are getting 1 female and 1 male roran and 1 male running I believe she said) lays 1 egg per day if the male is with her. And they can fly. Does that sound like rouens? I haven't seen them yet so I have no idea on coloring.

Maybe they are some type of cross? or your friend doesnt know what they are talking about. LOL Girl ducks do not need a drake to lay eggs at all, and two boys with one girl is going to end up with one over bread tired duck! Good luck with that. Post pictures when you get them, maybe that will help. Domestic Rouen dont usually fly over 4 feet and in short bursts.

My Female Rouen is 2 years old and last few years she molted her feathers in October yet today "May" I noticed her feathers are just coming off? I went to pet her and a bunch fell out! Is this normal do they molt at different times of the year or should I be concerned? I am going to give her Nutui- Dranch I find it helps with molting if that's what it is.

My Runners molt when they feel like it. If one of mine gets broody, she'll sit for several weeks, then stop sitting, then molt, and finally start to lay again.

I'm following! I have experience with raising chickens, but my lil guy, 8 years old, bought 2 Rouen ducks at the farmer's market. They are now 6 weeks old. We are super anxious to see what sex they will turn out to be, at the same time watching them is so darn entertaining, I may like them as must as I do my chickens...
