Rouen Duck thread

I'm new to raising Rouen's, I have two and the will be 4 weeks on the 8th they have started to get they feathers I tried to sex them but I believe I got bluffed, hey are starting to get a yellow beak, I believe they are drakes but as of now they are starting to look like hens, either way I'll love them, how can you tell without waiting till 9 weeks of age to tell by the feathers, it the bill a dead giveaway or no?

So far I can't really tell. The only way I've know was by voice sexing. The girls are loud and quack and the boys are low and sound like their voice is cracking. Almost like the quack is stuck and can't get out hahah

So far they are still speaking, once or twice I've gear a squawk not a quack but like a low pitch quack, like a goose sound or a honk lol

Jenniferlamar70,

My ducks tails are curling upwards also, it says that drakes tails curl but in pictures it's a feather or two but mine are the whole tail

HI! I have Rouens and love them. They are pretty much impossible to sex till they start getting older. Everyone has their own ways to try to tell, but as they get older you will start to hear the drake become raspy in voice. Ducks will quack, the drakes will not. My drake, Mr. Quackers, voice became raspy. Try to listen to them when they are out and about. Also, the drakes tail feathers will begin to curl. I'm pretty sure that I sexed my ducks as drakes many times until I saw that Mr. Quackers was the drake! lol. Until you can figure it out, be patient, have fun and sit and watch them. They will never stop amusing you, and soon you will be able to tell who your drake(s) are :) :) :)

Omg ain't this true. I was pretty positive I had two girls and one boy. But now at 10 weeks I'm starting to wonder if I have three girls. We will see I guess. The "boy" has not got any sign of a drake curl or green coming in and they've been going through their molt for a few weeks now. One of the girls is also getting a hint of white around her neck but she has a loud honk of a quack so I'm pretty sure on the sex.
