Rouen duck tips! (anything about Rouen ducks)

I have noticed my rouen ducks mating alot lately and they have started chasing my chickens out of the coop. Do I need to make special arrangements for the female when she decides to lay her eggs? Until now there hasn't been any issues between the chickens and ducks. My girls need in the coop in order to lay. The nesting boxes are up so that isn't an issue. But, I never thought about there being an issue one the female duck wanted to lay. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is your male to female ratio?

Boy your girls are going to pay the price for those 3 drakes you really need more female a good ratio is 3-5 females per drake. That is the only way to keep your females from being over bred. As for your chickens mine are together over night nest boxes for chickens up high and they have roosts to stay out of the ducks way but 3 drakes is a might to much for chicken hens if they decide they want to mate one they can seriously injure her or even kill her. Another big reason to have more female ducks. If there is a way to house them separately that would really be best. And let them all forage together during the day if possible. Just have to watch your drakes. Hormones make them do crazy things you’ll probably even see them fighting each other. My chickens have learned to stay out of reach of the ducks once mating season begins so they don’t get their feathers pulled out.

Thank you. When we bought them as ducklings were had no idea. We adre now trying to find just FEMALE rouen ducks. My main roster has already learned to stay away from them. Lol
Thank you for your help
