I'm ~assuming~ this is from molting, but my Rouen is my princess so I'm always extra paranoid if anything gets out of the ordinary for her. Just wanted to get opinions/clarification from more seasoned duck keepers than myself that this is normal!

Do you have any better pictures and have you heard a definite quack? I agree with the above that she appears to be growing in the plumage of Rouen Drake. The bill also is a yellow green which only Rouen drake's have green/yellow bills while females have orange.

Why is she a he?

Females rarely have green/yellow bills, nor do they have grey coloring on their underside, nor do they have green feathers near their eyes.
my khaki girl who passed away while young was starting to get drake colors. but yea it’s very rare

any idea why it happens tho?

He had been foraging, mostly in mud. My babies are like crackhead for mud. I did realize all three of them have their adult quacks, and turns out I've ended up with 2 drakes and a duck, so I'll have to get rid of my Black Swedish so she's not accidentally killed by the other two. 😔😔
