When can you begin to tell the difference between male and female rouens? There is a farm close by with some 5 weekers, but I need a male. Could you tell by appearance at 5 weeks if a rouen will be a male or female, or should you wait longer? If you have pictures of your rouens at 5 weeks I would love to see them!

To preface, it is my first time with ducks. We have 3 rouens, and I definitely couldn't tell sex at 5 weeks. I am not a pro at raising ducks though. Head coloring, bill coloring and tail feathers could all be observed to attempt to sex them though.

This is at about 7 weeks. The drake is on the right just above a Pekin. At this point you can see the beginning of the sheen on his head

We will always feel better thinking he gave his life for Mini. I know I am biased but I think he was prettier than most Rouen drakes. Friendly too.
