I have 2 rouen duckling. I was told they are male and female. They are about 3 weeks old now and are beginning to get tail feathers and some feathers on their chests and above their wings. They both have the same shape headband are about the same size so I am questioning their sexing. All of the feathers o. Both of them are coming in black and brown. Does a drake start out with the same color feathers as the hen or does he come out grey? This is my first time with ducks.

Yes, when young males will have the same coloring as females, but once they turn around 8-10 weeks or so males start to develop gray/green on their head/body that you see on an adult Rouen. Give it a few more weeks and you should be able to tell their sex by voice, males will make a raspy peep while the females will go peep, peep, QUACK.
