I got my first pip today as well. So now what??? I know I have to just sit and wait but I wanna see that little feller pop out. How long does it typically take a chick to hatch after you see a pip??

First one out of the shell and 3 pipped. I am still as amazed at this process as the first chick I saw hatch. It's only day 20 so plenty of time for all six to hatch. I expect nothing but another great hatch.

What does pips mean kinda new to this my eggs are due today and was wondering what to look for

In am new to this and also watching, mine are rescued eggs from a wild hen (Red Jungle Fowl) she was killed last Sat night. Since I don't know exactly when she started setting, I don't know exactly when to expect them to hatch. I don't even know if they are OK, I checked on her at dusk Fri she was fine and found her dead early the next morning. I don't know how long the eggs can be left and still survive. I first found the eggs on 3/9. From what I have read normal incubation for this breed is 18 days. If they hatch while I am not at home, will it be Ok for them to stay in the incubator for a while? I worry about the coil in the top of the incubator. I have sooo many questions. I have tried candling, they look pretty solid but I don't really know what I am looking for. Will the weight change is they are growing? Should I take an estimated guess when to stop turning. ARGH!!!! help...

They are tiny little crack in the egg. It sometimes looks like a raised pryamid.

Mine were due to hatch yesterday or today still have no pips any idea?
