Round Eggs?

I have some new birds just starting to lay and we keep getting a round one with hard red "scab" type thing on it. Not sure if she has bad "plumbing" or what is going on. Any ideas?

Here are my eggs, i havent cracked one yet...

I have a tiny old english bantam that started laying couple weeks ago, her eggs so far are perfectly round. Today's egg was a perfect golf ball. But all the rest of my chickens lay normal ones. So it's probably a breed thing.

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard Chickens! I am quite glad you decided to join the flock, and please make yourself at home here! Enjoy BYC! :frow

Hi, y'all. I came in search of an answer. Why aren't eggs egg-shaped anymore. I only have four chickens--third year. Just started laying again yesterday. Last week I asked egg seller at the farmers market why her eggs were round. Why, in fact, have all the eggs in the "organic" section of the supermarket suddenly turned round and all an even-shade of brown?

The farmers market egg seller told me it was because her hens were HEALTHY, and on special HEALTHY feed. My chickens are absolutely free-range healthy and they lay oval or egg-shaped eggs. I kind of resented the implication.
I know this thread is very old but one of my chickens has always been a bit janky and iffy and small, Opal, and she consistently lays round eggs. I'm pretty sure it's just bad genes, all the other chickens lay regular shaped eggs and Opal is not impressive by any means, lol. Poor girl.

It's just the way her reproductive tract is programmed.
