Roundworms

I found a worm this morning in my chickens poop. It looked like long spaghetti it really freaked me out. What can I do? I only have 4 hens that love more than anything and we use and give their eggs to family and friends.

Welcome to BYC. No big deal. That is an ascarid or large round worm. All chickens get worms if they are on the ground. Just pick up some SafeGuard Horse Paste or Liquid Goat wormer, and give 1/2 ml to each hen, then repeat in 10 days. Don't let the farm store people talk you into getting Wazine because it will only get round worm, and SafeGuard will treat most worms that chickens get.

What about the eggs during this treatment? Are they safe to be used?

Oh forgot to say, eggs need to be tossed for a total of 24 days--14 days after last treatment.
