Rubbery egg with tail?

My black sex links have been laying for a little over a week now. They are roughly 23 weeks and I've had one rubbery egg a few days ago and I know it is because they are new to laying but I thought this one was strange.

BTW, what can I do with it? The other went splat so I didn't have to worry but I'm not sure what to do with it.

Strange things happen when they first start to lay. If you don't want to eat it feed it to the hens.

I found an egg just like that one today. My girls are just starting to lay. That was the first egg I have found from them.

I wanted to search the threads before I did a post of my own about this, and thought, "egg + tail" might do the trick, and it did! I had this one today, a little grosser looking than yours. Also a "water balloon" type of egg. Mine are roughly 23 weeks also, two of them have been laying for several weeks but I think this might be from a new layer.




I cracked mine open and it looked like this. Maybe that's an over-large chalazae (I think that's the term?) and not anything to worry about?
