Ruby is moulting. The moult seems to have slowed down a little now. Can anybody tell me how long it will take for her new feathers to grow? I can not see any visible bald patches but with Autumn and Winter luming I am worried in case she gets cold.

I'll post a link to this thread for some perspective. Check out post #142 to see how bad it can get. Your chicken is in not danger of getting cold. This contest is closed, by the way.

Some chickens are fast molters, some slow. That's more about how fast the feathers fall out, not how fast they grow back. As you can see, some really fall out fast. Others can take months. There is no set time.

Have you seen Naked Necked (Turken) chickens? Their necks are totally bald and they supposedly they have about half the number of feathers of a regular chicken on the rest if their body. Turken are known as a cold hardy breed. I understand you having concerns about your chicken getting cold but you really don't need to unless they are molting like the one in that post above. Then I'd be more worried about sunburn.

They are probably already growing...look for pin feathers coming in.
She'll be fine, have had birds molt pretty hard in December.
