is there any way to decrease the loudness of a rooster...I have had Rudy a RIR for 2 years
he is comicaly but very loud and I am afraid someone may complain...I do not have
an ordinace to allow chickens in my area...any suggestions besides giving him away
I understand roosters meat is very tough.

I don't think so. I had to give away my favorite rooster because he was nonstop in the crowing department.

There was a post earlier in the week where someone made a rooster box that helped muffle the sounds a bit. If I recall, they take him after they set for bed, and they put it in what looks like a 30 gal rubbermaid container (inverted) that they drilled holes in. The OP used a auto feeder/timer to open the door in the morning. Maybe something like that could help?
